Google will tell you a roof is “a covering of the top of a building, serving to protect against rain, snow, sunlight, wind, and extremes of temperature”

While that is correct, the roof construction of the new Novatel and Ibis hotels at Melbourne Airport for Built. was much more.

The Roofing scope on this project included Ortech Industries structural Durra beams, S50 panels and Soundsorb ceiling cassettes. A CSR Bradford thermal insulation layer followed including a spacer system for insulation recovery throughout the entire roof. To protect the Ortech and CSR Bradford product is a COLORBOND® steel Lysaght Kliplok concealed fix roof, pattern installed as specified by FK Architecture

And if that wasn’t enough..

The Ellipse shaped building was expertly clad using a combination of Kingspan Global structural decking and insulation completed by KingZip Architectural Roofing by Kingspan. Despite the effortless appearance of KingZip standing seam this product can be very complex in installation. The combination of smooth and sprung curved materials, required significant predelivery coordination and skilled tradesmen during the install. With the RIMEX feature cladding installed by specialist contractor LL Installations adding the finishing touches to this unique building.
